"Enough people have asked me about the reason(s) behind my decision to
be excluded from the WPPR rankings that I think now might be a good
time to make some comments about it, hopefully before any bad
speculative rumors start spreading around.

My decision to be excluded is a private one, and I do not care to
discuss the details.  I will, however, say that my decision has
absolutely nothing to do with either a) being the "World Champion" and
finishing 2nd in the rankings, or b) having any major or minor
problems with the system itself, including any major or minor
disagreement I may have with the importance of and weightings assigned
to any of the events and/or divisions.  (Who do I think I am, anyway?
That is what this group is for, to discuss such things and fix them if
deemed necessary!)

Keith definitely deserves to be ranked #1, and I have no issue with
this fact at all.  Although I may joke with him from time to time
about being part of the "Pinbrawl B Division Championship Team" and
barely beating the 4-chicks (no offense to the 4-chicks), this is all
just trash talk.  Keith is truly a great player, and all trash-talking
aside, I have only ever shown him (and talked about him with) respect,
because he has earned it.

In addition, although I think that Josh still needs to "tweak" his
system a bit before it can really be considered a fair system (most
notably with the difficult task of awarding B division players some
WPPRs), it is my opinion that any comprehensive and ambitious system
(such as a pinball rankings system) needs to be given some time to
evolve into something that everyone can understand, accept, and be
happy with.  I don't think Josh is there yet, but he is well on his
way, and I think that in the not-so-distant future everyone will be
happy with the WPPR system.  The reason for this is that everyone here
in this group (and even a few knowledgeable people outside of this
group) are helping to shape what the WPPR system will become in the
future.  There is a huge amount of competitive pinball knowledge
contained in the minds of the people who participate here, and based
on this, failure seems reasonably unlikely.

I still hope to see a lot of you at the various pinball events later
in the year.
