We are very pleased to officially announce the dates for this year's California Extreme Arcade and Pinball Show.  It will be held on July 18-19, 2015 at the same fantastic location - the Hyatt Regency in Santa Clara, California. Please join us for our 19th show with hundreds of your favorite arcade and pinball games, both past and present, all gathered together for another fun-filled weekend of pure arcade excitement for folks of all ages!
 
We are working on this year’s lineup of seminars, guest speakers, and other arcade-themed events that make the show so much fun each year. On that note, we are looking to you, the arcade community, for suggestions for topics and speakers.  Is there something you would like to see presented (or even to present yourself)? This is your chance to let us know what you would like to see! Send us an e-mail at info@caextreme.org and let us know. We welcome all suggestions and will consider each one carefully.
 
The Hyatt is giving us a great room rate for the show ($109.00) and we encourage you to take advantage of this reduced rate on one of their very nice four-star rooms.  The show will be in the hotel, so you’ll be just a few steps away from all the action! Free parking is also included in this rate which is good from Thursday night, July 16 through Sunday night, July 19 (other dates are available under our block at a higher rates). We will be open until 2am on Saturday night, so plan accordingly.  You might also stay on Sunday night so you don’t need to check out before the show finishes and you can enjoy it to the end or enjoy a nice Monday at Great America.  The Hyatt is located close to San Jose airport which will make it easy to get to your rooms.  Click here to book your room or for more information on room bookings, click here.
 
Note: In the last several years the hotel has sold out and we expect it will sell out quickly, so we encourage you to consider booking early to make sure you get your room.
 
Start making your plans, requesting time off work, making reservations by planes, trains, automobiles, and especially trucks to come out and join us for another crazy, arcade-filled weekend!

Stockholm Open, som ju fick på tasken av tennisen förra året, kommer i år att byta namn till Swedish Open! Åtminstone tills golfen hör av sig...

Som en konsekvens av det så kommer vi dessutom att byta stad.

Belgian Open Pinball - 4/5 October 2014 - Sint Niklaas

The BOP is coming closer  ... still 4 months away, but with the holidays in between, no time to loose.
The venue is the same as last years BOP in Sint Niklaas, but bigger in size, as we get an extra hall.
Important to mention that this is an IFPA ECS event !!!

The registration opens for everybody on July 1st.  This year we have 200 spots available.  Last year we had only 150 spots, which sold out 2 months prior to date !!

In order to ensure a good attendance of foreign top players, we allow the IFPA country directors to pre-register 6 persons per country.

If we did not get your reply before July 1st, the pre registration ends and you can register through the normal registration channel.

The setup is slightly different compared to last year. In a nutshell it comes down to the following  :

*  Main tournament : 4 Qualification groups of each 50 players. Qualification groups have a dedicated time slot which needs to be respected. 8 qualification games to be chosen out of a bank of 20 games. 1 extra Joker to be used carefully, as it replaces the old score, even if it is worse. Extra 2 hours of Joker round after the 4 qualification group time slots.  56 players move to the Sunday double knock out tree.  Q1-Q8 get 2 rounds bye.  Q9-Q24 get 1 round bye.  Q25-Q56 start the first round on Sunday.  Winners bracket is best of three games, 3 balls per game. Losers bracket is 1 game only, 4 balls to be played. 3 players from the winners bracket + 1 player from the losers bracket eventually qualify for the finals.  The finals are 3 games of 4 players. The 3 games are chosen by the 3 finalists of the winners bracket.

*  Classics Tournament : Every registered player gets a free entry for the classics tournament.  Extra entries can be bought at 3 euro per entry.  A bank of 8 Classic games.  An entry is played on 3 of these 8 machines at your choice.  Top 16 qualifiers move to the next round.

*  Winner Takes it All : WTIA : Pinball machines with a special touch, where you can set your highscore throughout the 2 days.  Nice prizes to win !!

*  Team tournament : Max. 12 teams can register. At least 1 team per country.

*¨ Youth tournament  :  A special tournament setup for minor 16 year old players.

*  Enough machines on Free play for leisure.


Last but not least : This BOP is eventually the tryout for next years EPC.  The EPC will be held in the same venue ... again bigger in size with another extra hall.  Max. registrations will be 240 persons (or higher - to be decided).
We will allow the IFPA Country directors to pre-register 10 spots per country for the upcoming EPC.  Team tournament with 16 teams.  More info will follow.

Jag antar att vi kommer att fylla våra två country spots, men det vore bra att veta vilka topprankade som planerar att åka dig?

Stockholm Open 2014 kommer att spelas på Heron City 6-8 juni 2014.

Hemsidan kommer att omarbetas efter att SM är över, så registreringen öppnar i slutet på året.

EPC-arbetet rullar på, och hemsidan kommer att släppas nästa vecka.

Det kommer bland annat att spelas två lagtävlingar. En för landslag, och en sekundär lagtävling för icke-landslagsspelare. På så sätt kan vi både ha en riktig landslags-tävling, och samtidigt tillåta att alla som vill kan spela i ett lag.

När det gäller landslagen så är det ett lag per land som gäller. Alltså behöver Sverige välja ett lag. Vi har ju gjort det här förut, och i de flesta fall kommit fram till att topp-4 bland svenskarna på IFPA-rankingen ett visst datum är landslaget. Det är den metod jag själv förespråkar, och ett lämpligt datum är väl första september?

Hur de andra länderna gör vet jag inte (än), men det är ju upp till dem.
