There are a few methods around for cleaning TZ's powerball (which is a high-speed ceramic ball bearing), but the usual methods didn't work too well. The problem is that the "dirt" that turns the powerball from its pearl-white to a silver-grey isn't just on the surface, it's "absorbed". After looking around a bit, my dad found a compound by Autosol that he thought might work, and it did!
I'd say it's one of the best methods for cleaning the powerball that I've heard of and it doesn't require a buffing wheel and polishing rouge like other methods (which didn't seem to make any difference on mine).
So, the product is Autosol's SHINE Bright Metal Polish - a dark pink coloured paste that comes in a small purple tube and box and can be found in a lot of auto parts stores. It's also available overseas (and manufactured in Germany).
Simply polishing the powerball by hand with a cloth and the paste cleans it extremely quickly - only a few minutes are required and it's back to its original colour again. Sure beats spending ages with Novus 3 or a buffing wheel, and Autosol's paste is also really cheap.
