Lite tips om Mylaravtagning.

Made the 30 minute drive up to James' store and picked up a new TAF ramp. Guys, you won't be disappointed with this new ramp. It's reinforced at the right spots to prevent future failures at those spots. We chewed the fat for about an hour. Talked about removing mylar using freeze spray and actually tried it on an old F-14. Didn't work very good, as it took up some of the black paint lines around the inserts. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- I only had a chance to try this once on an old Space Shuttle playfield, but one thing I noticed when using the freeze spray to remove mylar is that you should pull it up IMMEDIATELY after spraying it. At first I figured I'd let it sit a second to 'cool through' (not sure what I was thinking), which resulted in paint loss. Pulling it up immediately worked great. On a totally irrelivant and pointless note, when you tip freeze spray upside down and spray it, it shoots air...when you tip canned air upside down and spray it, it shoots freeze. If you liked that, you can buy my pointless facts desk calender soon...jam packed with useless facts you didn't want to know! ;) --------------------------------------------------------------------------- trace it, cut out another, apply it. No seriously, I have had no problems removing mylar on newer DP fields. Freeze spray and remove, should leave the glue on the field, then what I do is apply (cut) a piece of papertowel. lay it down and soak it in GooGONE, let it sit for 30-60 mins, removes, scrape with credit card or flat plastic tool. comes off beautifully. The I apply naptha, clean well and apply new mylar.. very shiny. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Rob, If you're looking to remove mylar and want to use the freeze spray method..... you will probably need at least (2) 10-12 oz cans. You can get them at Walmart as "compressed air" or "canned air" in the electronics/music department. only $5/can. The active ingredient is (I believe): tetraflouroethane or something like that. exact same stuff as freeze spray. You will have to hold it upside-down as you spray...no biggie. application technique...hold the playfield vertically to get gravity on your side, spray at the line of contact and simultaneously pull at the same time, don't give it a chance to warm up. also, when first starting, you might try using some vice grips to help hold onto the edge so you don't freeze your finger tips off. just a suggestion. be careful not to nick-up the pf paint. then comes the harder part of removing the adhesive....follow the great advice from the other RGPers in this thread. :) regards, Jeremy
