Can anyone tell me the best place to order playfield glass from or should I try one of the local glass shops? If I try to find locally what are the specs. that I need to know? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Buy local - it's easy and generally fast, although most glass shops need 1-3 days for tempered orders. Tempered glass can't be cut after it's been tempered - they cut it to size first, then temper it. 1. Get the dimensions for the size glass you need. Most recent Williams/Bally pins are the same, but I always measure just to be sure. 2. Thickness = 3/16". Note: some folks say 1/4" thickness, but it is really 3/16" for every pin I've owned. 3. Glass type is "Tempered without Temper Label". This is important, since most tempered glass comes with an unremovable marking saying, quite appropriately, Tempered Glass. You do not want this marking on your glass. Make sure the shop marks this on the order, "No Temper Marking". 4. Do not install Plate Glass or anything other than Tempered glass. 5. Typical costs - $25-$35 for regular size; $35-$45 for WidePins. IMHO, there's nothing better than a fresh piece of glass to really make my pins play better.
